This academy is about discovery for our first-year SOAR participants. The focus is on discovering new horizons, including post-secondary education and pathways to it.
Academy students meet former foster youth and learn survival tips that can help ease the journey through the foster care system. Sharing periods help the participants put their past behind them and start moving forward to a bright future.
Some of the youths discover for the first time that there are other foster youth in similar situations and they are not alone in having to deal with the obstacles they face in life. More importantly, they learn that with help from our supporters, SOAR for Youth is committed to preparing them to soar..
