Volunteer with Us

We could not have carried out our mission successfully without the support of our amazing volunteers. Their knowledge, professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm have been the determining factors to our program success. With their support we were also able to keep our operating and summer camp costs to a minimum. As a result, more than 80 cents of every dollar donated to SOAR directly benefited our youth.
Below are some of the areas where we could use your help. We pledge to make your volunteer experience with SOAR a productive and rewarding one.
Volunteer Opportunities Not Requiring Background Check
- Write Funding Requests
- Are you good at grant writing? We could use your talents to increase our funding sources in order that we can serve more youth.
- Host a “Friends-Raiser”
- Want to help fund raise for SOAR? By hosting a small, informal gathering of friends and/or families, you can help us educate people about the unique challenges that foster youth face and what we do to help them become contributing members of society.
- Sponsor a SOAR Presentation
- Do you belong to a group and like what we do? By inviting a SOAR representative to speak at one of your group’s regular gatherings you can help us get the word out on what we do to help foster youth realize their full potential.
- Plan and Coordinate Activities
- Do you plan/execute well and share our commitment in helping foster youth grow in mind, body, and spirit? We could use your help in the planning and execution of our summer camps and/or the activities for our winter reunion event.
Volunteer Opportunities Requiring Background Check
All volunteers for the following positions will be fingerprinted for a criminal record check and Child Abuse index clearance. No one with convictions or records that would pose a risk to youth will be offered any of the following volunteer positions.
- Be an Adult Chaperone
- Are you good with youth? We provide 24x7 supervision when our youth are at our summer camps. We strive to have at least one adult chaperone for every 5 youth and require consistency through out a one-week summer camp. You don’t have to stay overnight if you can only be with the youth in the mornings or in the afternoons.
- Be a Youth Counselor
- Are you older than 18 and have the following attributes? We would love to have you with us at our summer camps:
- Attitude: Positive. Love to help others. Good manners.
- Skills: Good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to participate in rigorous outdoor activities with camp youth. Swimming ability preferred.
- Experience: Prior youth work experience preferred.
